Private Housekeeping in Mayfair
A great deal of Mayfair is empty a great deal of the year, and that single fact shapes how we work here more than any other. The brief is often not weekly cleaning but keeping a house ready: aired, dust-free, water run through the system, and fully turned out in the day or two before anyone arrives.
Where we work in Mayfair
Our Mayfair round covers the Grosvenor Estate streets (Mount Street, Brook Street, Grosvenor Street, South Audley Street) and the garden squares at Grosvenor, Berkeley and Hanover. We work the Park Lane apartment buildings and the newer ultra-prime schemes off Clarges Street and Curzon Street, where concierge and service-lift protocols govern when we arrive and which entrance we use.
Shepherd Market, with its narrow lanes and small flats above shops, is a different job again. North Audley Street, Davies Street and the Mount Row mews complete the patch.
What we are cleaning
Mayfair's housing splits more sharply than its neighbours'.
The Georgian townhouses on Brook Street and Grosvenor Street are the oldest stock, many of them now part-commercial on the lower floors with a private residence above. Access is frequently shared, and the schedule has to be agreed around an office or a gallery downstairs.
The red-brick Victorian and Edwardian mansion blocks, Mount Street's terracotta frontages being the obvious example, hold large, high-ceilinged flats with original service corridors. Portering, service lifts and strict delivery windows are standard. A housekeeper who has not worked the building will lose an hour to access alone, which is exactly why we keep the same person on the same block.
Then the new ultra-prime: lateral apartments with full home automation, climate-controlled wine storage, specified stone throughout, and lighting designed to be flattering rather than forgiving. The specification here is unusually detailed and the tolerance narrow. We work to a written room-by-room schedule, signed off by the client or their property manager, and we do not deviate from it without instruction.
Access, parking and keys
Mayfair is inside the Congestion Charge zone: £18 a day since 2 January 2026, Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm and noon to 6pm at weekends, with electric vehicles now charged at a discounted rate. It is also inside the ULEZ. Our vehicles are compliant, and every charge sits inside your retainer.
Westminster's controlled parking runs Monday to Saturday, 8:30am to 6:30pm, with no charge on Sunday. In practice we park very little in Mayfair: most of the round is reached on foot or by a single drop, because the buildings that matter here have loading bays, service entrances and porters who expect to be told in advance.
For homes left empty we hold keys and alarm codes under the same protocol as everywhere else: numbered safe, no address labels, signed in and out against a named housekeeper.
Services in Mayfair
- Private housekeeping. Retained, weekly through daily, with a named housekeeper and a named deputy.
- Deep cleaning. Seasonal, and before a house is returned to. Descaling is most of the work in London.
- Marble and stone care. Cleaning, sealing, stain drawing and honing out etch damage. Etching is not staining.
- Textile and upholstery care. Silk, wool and antique, tested before treated, and referred on where it should be.
- After-builders cleaning. Three stages, worked to your contractor's programme. One clean at the end always fails.
