Private Housekeeping in Belgravia
Belgravia asks more of a housekeeper than almost anywhere in London. Thomas Cubitt's stucco terraces were built for households with permanent staff, and they still behave that way: five and six storeys, service stairs, basement kitchens, and a great deal of plasterwork, marble and joinery that will not forgive the wrong cloth.
Where we work in Belgravia
Our Belgravia round runs from Belgrave Square and Wilton Crescent through Eaton Square, Eaton Place and Chester Square, down to Elizabeth Street and the Pimlico Road design quarter.
We work the mews behind the main terraces as often as the terraces themselves (Eaton Mews, Wilton Row, Kinnerton Street) where the constraints are different again: narrow stairs, no lift, and a cobbled approach that rules out most trolleys. Motcomb Street, Lowndes Square and the Grosvenor Crescent apartments sit within the same round, as do the embassy residences on the north side of Belgrave Square.
What we are cleaning
Three kinds of property dominate, and each needs a different hand.
The Cubitt terraces are the defining stock, largely Grade II listed, with lath-and-plaster ceilings, deep cornicing, and original pine or oak floors that have usually been re-finished more than once. Stucco frontages shed a fine, persistent dust through sash windows, which is why sills, shutters and glazing bars need weekly attention here and fortnightly almost anywhere else.
Behind them sit the mews houses, converted from stabling. Compact, often open-plan, almost always with one steep staircase and no service access. They are quick to clean and easy to damage; the risk here is bulky equipment, not dirt.
Then the lateral conversions, two or three terraced houses knocked through into single-floor apartments, mostly within the last twenty years. Marble bathrooms, book-matched stone, underfloor heating, and specified lighting that shows every streak. These are the properties where product choice matters most, and where we do the majority of our stone care.
Access, parking and keys
Belgravia sits inside the Congestion Charge zone. The charge rose to £18 a day on 2 January 2026 and applies Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm, and from noon to 6pm at weekends; electric vehicles now pay it too, at a discounted rate through Auto Pay. All of it is absorbed into your retainer and never appears on an invoice.
Westminster does not operate a visitor permit scheme, so our teams either carry a daily trade permit or work around the zone's hours. Belgravia's controlled parking runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 6:30pm, and Saturday morning until 1:30pm.
Most of our Belgravia households are key-holders with us. Keys are held in a numbered safe, never labelled with an address, and signed in and out against a named housekeeper.
Services in Belgravia
- Private housekeeping. Retained, weekly through daily, with a named housekeeper and a named deputy.
- Deep cleaning. Seasonal, and before a house is returned to. Descaling is most of the work in London.
- Marble and stone care. Cleaning, sealing, stain drawing and honing out etch damage. Etching is not staining.
- Textile and upholstery care. Silk, wool and antique, tested before treated, and referred on where it should be.
- After-builders cleaning. Three stages, worked to your contractor's programme. One clean at the end always fails.
